In 2025, disaster-driven internal displacements (29.9 million) were outpaced by conflict-driven displacements for the first time. Improved climate adaptation and mitigation efforts, along with changing weather patterns, will likely reduce disaster-driven displacements. The threshold of 10 million is expected to be crossed by December 2028.
